Legionnaires’ outbreak update The number of people affected by the Edinburgh Legionnaires’ outbreak has remained static for three days. No new cases have been reported today, which means the total number of confirmed cases remains at 48 and the total number of suspected cases is 47.
The total number of overall cases is 95. And two more of the patients who were hospitalised as part of the outbreak have now been discharged from hospital. That means, at noon today, of those cases being treated in hospital, there remains three patients in intensive care and 10 on general wards.
Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said, “It is encouraging that the number of people affected by Legionnaires’ has not increased for the past three days and that two people have now been discharged from hospital. This continues to offer reassurance that the outbreak is under control.
